LoneTree Live is excited to announce that applications for the 2027 Memphis Seed to Script Playwright Development Program will open October 5th, 2026. Memphis Seed to Script is a development program designed to help emerging playwrights transform an initial idea, concept, or “seed” into a full-length play.

 

The free development program will bring together a cohort of 8 Memphis-area writers for ten weeks of focused writing, exploration, feedback, and community. Through the process, participants will be supported as they develop their individual theatrical voices and move their work toward a complete draft.

 

“Memphis is full of stories, perspectives, and artists with something to say,” said Julia Hinson, Executive Director of LoneTree Live. “Seed to Script is about giving playwrights the time, structure, community, and encouragement to take an idea that has been living in their head and put it on the page.”

 

The 2027 Seed to Script cohort will meet January 10 through March 14, 2027, with a March 21 makeup session if needed. Participants will work together through a structured development process led by nationally recognized playwright and facilitator Evan Linder, who brings more than 18 years of experience facilitating playwriting and new-work development programs.

• A cover letter

• References are optional, but encouraged for applicants who feel
  their writing sample does not fully represent their abilities
   

LoneTree Live encourages writers at various stages of their development to apply. The program is intended to foster new theatrical voices and create a supportive environment in which writers can take creative risks, develop their craft, and build relationships with fellow Memphis artists.
